It Don't Mean a Thing Unless you've Been to Albarracin

Alright Team!

Enough of the guns and ski crap (well actually Marty's photo of his gun did make him look quite handsome) - I've dug out a few of my Spanish climbing photos to get you all dribbling for more. Good times!

Ok, this is the Spanish town of Albarracin - was a Islamic fortress town until the rag heads got kicked out by the good old Christian knights to get the place ready for boulderers. Top stuff lads.

Nice and warm here. Plenty of sun, fortress walls and tight streets just big enought to squeez a car around Lovely stuff!

This is where we camped for a night. The crazy Spanish fuzz will let you sleep in your vans or out in the open but if you put up a tent then they move you on. Strange, strange stuff. Great place to camp however - boulders everywhere!

Ok, here's a few more shots of me cranking out a problem or two. Great rock, good times! Nice overhanging start on some tricky crimps then it's viva la face and up and over.
Crimping away here reaching up to glory.
Got to get those feet up for the move.

AGGHHHHHYYYYYY!!!!! AIR TIME! Rejected from the top out move....sob sob sob

I then proceeded to throw my toys from the crib with a bit of "I should have had that" fist punding action

Next go was well.....this photo was a milli second before I peeled again and did my ankle. Got to leave something for next time aye!

Luckily I had some boulder mat porters to get my stuff around. Thank you Jo and Stefan! Note the rock everywhere!
Whilst delirious with pain because of my ankle I hallucinated and thought I was a tiger. LOOK OUT! ROARRRR
Then I manned up a bit and gave a few more things a go (the pain killers kicked in so I kinda felt ok for a little while...)

Stefan however demonstrated how it's meant to be done. Go you strong thing go!
Got a little bit of a tricky top out this one....
Stefan then had a few cracks at his project. Check it before yo wreck it!
Mean as
Nasty!!!

Super Nasty move! Did he get it in the end? Dunno, not this day anyway. Grade - maybe V9-10, the move to the dish looked sick as and sloper as!

All in all good times. If you are in Spain then don't be a tool and not go here!

Wikkid.

Freshies!

We had a freken awesome day at porter heights yesterday!with 60cms of new pow you'd have to expect it!we got one of the 1st rides in from the top on the untouched snow, pulling the big fast turns. It was apparently real busy for porters but was nothing compared to what im used to at whakapapa, 5mins max for the tbars.there was limited grooming beacause of the shit weather, so all off piste!
The road was delayed opening so they gave us half day tickets $30!wikkid.

got a couple of shots from the ridge:

Castle hill peak and basin from the top of porters

Over the back of the ridge, straight down out of the photo looks like the best touring powder!

And, bugger all climbing facilities...
And, haven't met a welcoming local climber down here yet....

Not a happy climber! I wanna get back up and slap some new projects with you fellas! looks sweet as.

Just another day at the Tomo with the Crew

Yeah, just another day in the office keeping it real putting up new problems with "Da Jenkins" and "Cousin It Morris". A bit of rain could not keep us away and by the time we'd done the muddy death march in it was starting to clear and the waterfalls of water coming off the rock had stopped and it was starting to dry out. First stop was the Reservoir Boulder down the track past the Alchemy Wall and some cleaning, cleaning and some more cleaning. Then the sending came.... The boys cleaning the good stuff.

Having a crack at one of the first problems of the day

Mr Jenkins and his fingers of fury. Oh yeah!!!

James on the project checking out the slopers of glory

Wack it boy, wack it good! YEHAAA!! Will will fear you now that you are a master of the wacking cloth.

Bevan working it out. There are a couple of extra super nice looking lines left behind for the next visit.

Same problem - different angle. Still looks good from where you stand!

The lengths some people will go to to get to a good boulder problem. Mr Jenkins proves there is no swamp that cannot be crossed in the name of sendage.

As we moved back towards the car some more problems fell to the crew. Bevan back in the sun dancing on a slab of glory. Bevan cranks again!

Provisonal NBS 2007 Dates

Hey team,

Jamie is looking at some later dates for the 2007 NBS. Suits me better as easier to organize a later event. Be a bit warmer and more humid as well so you’ll just have to want those slopers more team.

Mark these in your diary ok!
Waitomo: 3rd Feb
Baring Head: 10 Feb
Jardines: 24 Feb
Castle Hill: 3 March

Be there or Voltron will get you like this little mouse that dissed bouldering. Note: The mouse never dissed bouldering again....
