couple of days at the strip

Moko, Tai and i hit the strip yesterday and managed to find some dry weather! We started out by repeating some old favourites and quickly headed to the trail boulders for some new problems. Moko sent a V2 face/arete unnamed as of yet, then sent the arete close by giving 'Tai toy' V1, (means something in french).

Me trying a mantle project

Then today I came out with Lewis and Bevan, headed straight for the alchemy wall as we only had two hours. Warmed up with some quick sends of Razorback rider V6 by all.

Looking a lot stronger, Bev bagged the 2nd ascent of nightfall V8. Nice one brother! I started working a traverse from the first moves of nightfall along the sloping ledge finishing with the V5/6 mantle of 'live life'. Managed to get the send, giving 'Lightspeed' V8. Its got some real sweet moves and will clean up nicely with a bit of traffic, so if you don't have the balls for the landing of nightfall, try this one on for size! Good one to tick before the NBS aye ;)

Have a sweet holiday!
see you's in the new year

Just another Wairoa day out paddling!

Any day out for a kayak is a good day. Here’s a few shots showing the good times from last Sunday when I went for a little wee kayak!

In a van with way too many people and kayaks. A good start to any day on the water!

Ohhhhh first big rapid of the day "Mothers Nightmare" pretty pushy and nasty if you roll as is shallow in places and rocks are hard and hurt..... went all good however!

Off for a little fly into the lead in pool above the "Rollercoaster" drop. Plenty of power = all good.

Pulling out into the "Rollercoaster" in the zone now as it's total commitment and its all gonna happen real fast!

Mystry Mooooovveeeee! Actung! Dive Dive Dive! Thought I had the big drop on the Rollacoster clean but ended up doing a submarine impersonation on landing! Wikkid! What was not so wikkid was whilst upside down and getting worked in the next drop smacked a rock with by elbow pretty hard so that was a little sore. Thank goodness for my paddle jacket with built in body armour!

After all that excitement we hit the Mount for ice creams and bumped into dirty old Lewis skulking around causing trouble. Good man!
